Welcome Thomas Stanley, Our New Chief Sales Officer

‘Today we’re very excited to announce Thomas Stanley as Tanium’s new Chief Sales Officer. Thomas will officially join us on September 9, and will oversee all sales, field operations, channel and alliances at Tanium, with responsibility for accelerating our continued growth across the U.S. and international markets. Thomas is a 30-year technology industry veteran, and has served as senior vice president and general manager of the Americas for NetApp since 2015. Among other notable positions, Thomas was NetApp’s SVP, Global Partner Sales and Alliances and VP, Global System Integrators and Alliances, and also held a number of roles during nearly a decade with IBM. He graduated from North Carolina A&T with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and earned an M.B.A. at the University of Minnesota–Carlson School of Management.

He’s married to Berdenia Walker Stanley, Ph.D, and is the proud father of three daughters.

As we’ve come to know Thomas, we’ve learned about his passion for supporting STEM-based education and related causes. He serves on the boards of the Omega Uplift Foundation, Boys Hope Girls Hope International organization, and the Board of Visitors at North Carolina A&T State University.

As he shared in this insightful recent article published by USBE Information Technology, Thomas has mentored many up-and-coming professionals, and one thing he continues to drive home is the importance of character—how you show up. He believes in the same values we do at Tanium: do the right thing, be unstoppable, and win as a team.

“I often say, ‘Be comfortable taking the road less traveled,’ and that’s important,” Thomas says. “But remember that it’s as much about how you show up as why you show up. Be mindful of things like how you treat people, how well you prepare yourself, and that you’re representing more than yourself when you do show up.”

Having spent time with some of the world’s largest and most technically demanding organizations – many of them Tanium customers today – Thomas has seen firsthand how transformative true endpoint visibility and control can be for IT systems and security teams.
