Machine Speed Defenses: Charting a Path to Rapid SecOps Transformation
Omdia examines how AI is reshaping security operations, and what SecOps teams need to keep pace with machine-speed threats

Omdia's latest Showcase looks at how AI is transforming security operations on both sides of the fight. The verdict: SecOps strategies must transform to keep up, as AI-enabled adversaries increase attack velocity while AI across the enterprise introduces new risk. Read the complimentary report to see the full analysis.
The security operations landscape has shifted. Teams are no longer measured only on how quickly they react. They're measured on real-time visibility, governed use of agentic AI, and the ability to detect, hunt, and respond at machine speed. We believe Omdia's research captures that shift.
In this Showcase, Omdia Chief Analyst Dave Gruber draws on recent Omdia research to explore how organizations are adopting agentic AI in the SOC, how humans and AI are sharing the workload, and why governance is becoming a competitive advantage.
What the research shows
Four findings from the Omdia Showcase
AI is expanding the attack surface
65% of organizations say AI adoption is rapidly expanding their attack surface and exposing it to new threats and risks.
Agentic AI is already in the SOC
65% of respondents say their organizations already use agentic AI in SecOps, and 63% of those early adopters say its impact has exceeded expectations.
Humans and AI share the work
46% describe their model as AI-augmented, with AI doing the heavy lifting while human analysts make the final decisions.
Governance is the gap to close
Only 34% say monitoring AI systems for unintended or unpredictable behavior is a primary way they mitigate AI-related risk.
“Tanium's real-time endpoint visibility and actionability enable security teams to speed detection, improve accuracy, and hunt faster, in addition to maintaining governance and control.”Source: Machine Speed Defenses: Charting a Path to Rapid SecOps Transformation, Omdia, September 2026.
