I. TANIUM PRACTICES REGARDING YOUR PRIVACY

Tanium is committed to respecting privacy and recognizes the need for appropriate protection and management of the information shared with us.

Tanium Inc. and the relevant Tanium group companies (together, “Tanium,” also referenced herein as “we,” “our,” and “us”) provide products and services, including our software platform (the “Tanium Platform”), under separate agreements with our customers and certain partners that access and use the Tanium Platform (collectively, “Tanium Platform Licensees”). This policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes how Tanium, acting as a controller, collects, shares, and uses personal information about you (referenced herein as “you” and “your”). "You" includes prospective and current Tanium Platform Licensees and partners, and their respective representatives, website visitors, event and webinar attendees, job applicants, office visitors, and any other individual whose personal information Tanium collects or processes. Where Tanium processes personal information as a processor, this Privacy Policy does not apply, and Tanium’s agreement with the relevant customer or partner governs instead.

This Privacy Policy applies to the information we collect from you, including through your use of the Tanium Platform; the performance of our services; your access and use of the www.tanium.com website and any other related Tanium websites or web applications, including mobile applications, that display or link to this Privacy Policy; our physical locations; and your interactions with other mediums including but not limited to email, newsletters, conference sign-ups and leave-behinds. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies that Tanium does not own or control.

If you are a California resident, please read our Supplemental Privacy Notice for California Residents and Tanium’s CCPA Notice at Collection disclosure.

II. PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED BY TANIUM

Tanium collects personal information about you in the following ways, depending on how you interact with us:

A. Information collected through our website and web applications

Tanium’s website and web applications may collect certain data and metadata about you, including technical data about your usage, and data that may help us determine your location or device type. Tanium may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect such information about you and your device, such as an IP address and other identifiers. For more information, please see our Cookie Statement.

Our website and web applications may ask you to provide personal information voluntarily: for example, we may ask you to provide your contact details (such as your name, email address and phone number) if you request a demo or whitepaper from us, or if you otherwise contact us by email using a contact form. We collect login credentials and passwords in order to verify user authorization to access such features.

We may collect certain personal information that you submit or make available through our interactive features (e.g., messaging and chat features, commenting functionalities, forums, blogs, and social media pages). Any information you provide using these interactive features will be considered “public,” unless otherwise required by applicable law, and is not subject to the privacy protections referenced herein.

B. Information collected when you communicate with us (by email, mail, or other means)

We collect the personal information contained within, and associated with, your correspondence with us. If you communicate with us via a phone call from us, we may record that call for quality assurance, training, or security purposes.

C. Job applicants

We may also collect your contact details (such as your name, phone number, email address and address) and employment details if you send us a CV, resume or other details of your employment history in connection with an advertised Tanium job vacancy or a general enquiry regarding employment opportunities with us.

D. Office visitors

If you visit our offices, we may ask you to register as a visitor and to provide your name, email address, phone number, company name, and time and date of arrival. We may ask you to show proof of your identity. Additionally, to ensure the safety and security of our employees, to protect our confidential information against unauthorized access, and to ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, our offices may use cameras to record video and audio at our offices’ access points and common-area corridors.

E. Information that We obtain from third party sources

From time to time, we may receive personal information about you from third party sources, including content syndication vendors, data aggregators, advertisers, and vendors and service providers we engage to support our business operations.

The types of information we collect from third parties include, for example, name, company, role, location, and topics of interest, and we use the information we receive from these third parties to maintain and improve the accuracy of the records we hold about you and to communicate with you about any relevant products or services. We use information received from vendors and service providers we engage to support our business operations for the purposes of managing those business relationships.

F. Information collected through your use of the Tanium Platform

This section describes personal information Tanium collects through the use of the Tanium Platform by Tanium Platform Licensees.

(i) We may collect personal information about you as a representative of a Tanium Platform Licensee. This information may include business contact information such as your name, job title, company name, address, phone number, email address, or username and password that you share in the course of accessing and using the Tanium Platform.

(ii) We also may acquire personal information about individuals other than you, such as during a support request or through use of the Tanium Platform, where a Tanium Platform Licensee may share or upload personal information about its own customers. We process such personal information in accordance with the agreement in place with the relevant Tanium Platform Licensee, who determines what information to upload or share. As described in Section I, this Privacy Policy does not apply to Tanium's processing of that information. The terms of Tanium's agreement with the relevant Tanium Platform Licensee govern instead.

(iii) We may also automatically collect personal information in certain circumstances from your use of, and interactions with, the Tanium Platform. The personal data that may be collected includes, but is not limited to, your activity on the pages and modules of the Tanium Platform, Tanium Platform configuration, click and usage logs, IP address, and user-agent. To better understand how the Tanium Platform is used and to continuously improve our product offerings, we may use additional analytical tools to analyze the collected information.

(iv) We may collect crash or error reports that may contain information about you from third-party software or operating-system providers that interoperate with the Tanium Platform, which would be used for the purpose of testing and resolving compatibility issues or fixing and resolving bugs or other issues associated with the Tanium Platform.

III. HOW COLLECTED INFORMATION IS USED

The information that Tanium collects automatically through cookies and other similar technologies is used for analytics purposes, and marketing efforts to better target advertisements and other content in an effort to create a more personally relevant experience. The information is also used to predict responses to advertisements, and to help determine which advertisements perform best and which content is most appropriate for different individuals.

The personal information that you voluntarily provide to us or is otherwise provided to us may be used to provide you with the requested services, to manage your account and to respond to your enquiries, to provide support, and to improve and develop our products and services. Your information may also be used for marketing purposes. This use may result in follow-up communications from Tanium, in accordance with your communications preferences. In addition, that information may be combined with information collected through cookies and other website browsing tracking technologies, as described in the section above, to assist with targeting advertisements to your preferences and behaviors, and for other Tanium marketing efforts.

For information on how to opt-out and unsubscribe from our marketing communications, please read the “Your Choice and Rights” section below.

In connection with the uses described in this section, we may use artificial intelligence or machine learning (AI) tools in our processing of your personal information. We do not rely solely on automated AI processing to make decisions. All decisions are ultimately made by humans.

IV. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING PERSONAL INFORMATION (EEA AND THE UNITED KINGDOM INDIVIDUALS ONLY)

If you are an individual located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above will depend on the personal information concerned and the specific context in which we collect it.

However, we will normally collect personal information from you only where we have your consent to do so, where we need the personal information to perform a contract with you, or where the processing is in our legitimate interests and not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.

If we ask you to provide personal information to comply with a legal requirement or to perform a contract with you, we intend to make that clear at the relevant time and advise you whether the provision of your personal information is mandatory or not (as well as of the possible consequences if you do not provide your personal information).

Similarly, if we collect and use your personal information in reliance on our legitimate interests (or those of any third party), we intend to make that clear to you at the relevant time what those legitimate interests are.

In relation to our cloud service, the relevant Tanium Platform Licensee is responsible for determining the appropriate legal basis for processing your personal information.

If you have questions about or need further information concerning the legal basis on which we collect and use your personal information, please contact us using the contact details provided under the “Contacting Us” heading below.

V. SHARING INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES

We may disclose your personal information, including that information identified above in Part II, and consistent with any agreements in place with our customers or partners, to the following categories of third-party recipients:

(i) to our group companies and third-party services providers who perform certain functions on our behalf and who provide services to us (for example, to fulfill requests for information, to receive and send communications, to update marketing lists, to analyze data, to provide IT and other support services or other similar tasks) or who otherwise process personal information for purposes that are described in this Privacy Policy or notified to you when we collect your personal information. Types of companies who may provide such services include IT suppliers, service providers, and other professional advisors;

(ii) to our partners to provide services to our prospects and customers, to fulfill product and information requests, and to provide prospects and customers with information about Tanium and its products and services. In addition, from time to time, we may engage in joint sales and marketing activities with select partners. If you purchase or specifically express an interest in a jointly-offered product or service, or participate in a joint-marketing activity, we may share relevant personal information with those partners. Where you have given your consent to do so, these partners may send you marketing communications about their own products and services. Please be aware that we do not control our partners’ use of such information. Our partners are responsible for managing their own use of the personal information collected in these circumstances. We recommend you review the privacy notices of the relevant partner to find out more about their handling of your personal information;

(iii) to any competent law enforcement body, regulatory, government agency, court or other third party where we believe disclosure is necessary (i) as a matter of applicable law or regulation, (ii) to exercise, establish or defend our legal rights, or (iii) to protect your vital interests or those of any other person;

(iv) to a potential buyer (and its agents and advisers) in connection with any proposed purchase, merger or acquisition of any part of our business, provided that we inform the buyer it must use your personal information only for the purposes disclosed in this Privacy Policy; or

(v) to any other person with your consent to the disclosure.

VI. OUR PRIVACY POLICY AND OUTSIDE LINKS

This Privacy Policy only applies to Tanium’s activities. Any information you submit to any third-party websites is not in our control or governed by this Privacy Policy. You should be sure that you review the privacy policy of any site to which you link or redirect your browser and should not assume that any such website is operated by Tanium or governed by this Privacy Policy.

VII. SECURITY

Wherever your personal information may be held within Tanium or on its behalf, we intend to take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from access or disclosure not in compliance with this Privacy Policy. Please note that while Tanium will make reasonable efforts to protect your information, no transmission of data over the Internet is 100% secure.

By using our website or web applications or providing personal information to us, you agree that we may communicate with you electronically regarding related security, privacy, and administrative issues. If we learn of a security system’s breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable data protection laws, which may include electronic notice posted on our website, notification by mail or to the email address associated with your Tanium account.

VIII. YOUR CHOICE AND RIGHTS

You have the following data protection choices and rights:

(ii) In addition, if you are an individual located in a jurisdiction whose data protection laws provide for these rights, you can object to processing of your personal information, ask us to restrict processing of your personal information, or request portability of your personal information. You can exercise these rights by contacting us using the contact details provided under the “Contacting Us” heading below.

(iii) You have the right to opt-out of marketing communications we send you at any time. If you no longer wish to receive our newsletters, surveys or promotional communications via email, you may opt-out by clicking here and following the instructions to unsubscribe. (iv) Similarly, if we have collected and processed your personal information with your consent, then you can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.

(v) You have the right to complain to a data protection authority about our collection and use of your personal information. For more information, please contact your local data protection authority. (Contact details for data protection authorities in the European Economic Area and UK are available here.)

(vi) Where we are processing your data on our cloud service, it is the relevant Tanium Platform Licensee, not Tanium, that is responsible for responding to your requests in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Any such requests will be passed on to the relevant Tanium Platform Licensee.

(vii) Where we ask you to provide personal information directly to us, we intend to describe the purpose of that request at the time of the request or otherwise make that information readily available to you.

We respond to all requests we receive from individuals wishing to exercise their data protection rights in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
