At September’s a16z Capital Summit, Andreessen Horowitz’s Ben Horowitz and Tanium’s Orion Hindawi sat down to discuss “The Fundamentals of Security and the Story of Tanium’s Growth”, featured this week on the a16z Podcast.

Covering everything from Tanium’s five year company journey to perfect their platform to the out-of-date architecture that most companies rely on, Orion gives his thoughts on what it takes to disrupt the IT market:

“People have optimized hub and spoke as much as they possibly can and it’s a known problem. We realized that we had to change that topology so profoundly that basically every problem that had to be solved in the hub and spoke had to be resolved in a different way.”

But with the issues of the hub and spoke model Orion saw opportunity…and cause for optimism.

“Out of the top 10 breaches that happened in the last year we’ve been bought by eight of them and we’re in procurement with the other two.”
