Tanium Helps Communities Around the World with Its Sixth Annual Month of Giving

Our Culture

Every year, Tanium holds our Global Month of Giving, an opportunity for our team members to work together to support and give back to their communities, make meaningful impacts in the lives of those that need it most, and exemplify our values of winning as a team, doing the right thing, and being unstoppable.

The Tanium team has collectively volunteered thousands of hours during our Month of Giving since it began in 2018. And just as our professional work has become a mix of in-person and remote activities in recent years, so has our giving.

We have hosted in-person Month of Giving events, such as community clean-ups, packing events at food banks, childhood and elder support, and animal rescue projects. We have also hosted virtual events, such as creating greeting cards for the elderly and building educational kits for children in underrepresented communities.

We also support individual events such as walk-a-thons to raise money for our Month of Giving partner organizations. And we’re pleased to support individual team members by encouraging volunteering for organizations near and dear to their hearts.

Whether our team members are giving back in groups or individually, the spirit remains the same. We recognize that Tanium is a mission-driven organization, and that mission extends beyond the office and our customers and into the world as a whole.

The 2023 Tanium Month of Giving

Our sixth annual Month of Giving officially kicks off in September. Here’s a look at what we have planned for team members around the world.

Week 1: Walk-My-Workday and Peloton Ride/Run/Row Fundraising events
Walk-My-Workday is a favorite Month of Giving activity here at Tanium. Team members take turns walking or running for an hour over the course of a day to benefit a specific charity of our team member’s choosing. This year, we’re adding Peloton Ride/Run/Row as another fundraising option, giving employees even more ways of stretching their muscles for a good cause.

Week 2: Office-wide events near one of our Tanium offices
The next week, we’ll get out of the office and participate in local charitable activities, such as learning CPR, helping construct a tribute wall for the American Heart Association, or packing wash-and-sleep kits for people who find themselves in hospitals unexpectedly.

Week 3: Virtual STEM Kit building event with Generus
Generus, one of our Month of Giving partners, encourages team member engagement to create meaningful experiences. In the third week of September, Tanium team members will participate in a virtual Generus event, building STEM kits for kids in underrepresented communities.

Week 4: Tanium Together Days, off-site volunteering events
We’ll wrap up the month with Tanium Together Days, where team members will have the chance to participate in local volunteer events such as community clean-ups, supporting their local food banks, and raising money for homeless youth.

In addition to all these planned events, Tanium offices will be running their own donation drives, collecting funds and other contributions for food banks, school supplies, and home goods. Our office in Japan will even be hosting a blood drive for the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Meet a Tanium Volunteer: Q&A with Carli McCaffrey

As part of our annual Month of Giving celebration, we highlight Tanium team members who demonstrate our core values through their charitable activities. This year, we’re honoring the accomplishments of Carli McCaffrey, workplace coordinator at our Morrisville, North Carolina office. In a recent Q&A Carli shared her story and how she gives back.

Can you tell us about yourself?

Carli: I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I went to college near Boston, Massachusetts, and have lived in Raleigh, North Carolina for the last 16 years. I have an 11-year-old son, Torin, who is my world, along with our dogs Adeline and Braxton. My passion is sports. I grew up playing volleyball, basketball, tennis and golf in high school and tennis in college. My son plays football and basketball. If I am not playing sports or watching my son play sports, you can find me watching the Ohio State Buckeyes (or any Cleveland Pro team) at home or in person. My other hobbies include hiking, planning events and charity events, volunteering, and traveling with family.

Tell us about your work at Tanium.

Carli: I’m a workplace coordinator for Tanium. I manage the Morrisville, North Carolina office, the Bethesda, Maryland office and currently the Reading, UK office. I also work on the career, growth, and development team, assist with global real estate, help with companywide holiday/volunteer events, manage Tanium Together Days at numerous offices, manage vendor onboarding in procurement, and more. I’ve been with Tanium for almost two years now and have loved every minute of it! I truly consider the people at Tanium “family,” and I could not be more grateful to be here.

How is your office participating in this year’s Month of Giving?

Carli: We’ve already started. In August, some of our team volunteered at Note in the Pocket to help provide clothing to Wake County, NC students in need. We sorted, folded, and bagged garments that will be given to children who cannot afford a wardrobe. Along with this, we collected a large basket of new school supplies to be given to the students in need. Currently in our office, soda tabs are collected daily to be turned into money and donated to the Ronald McDonald House for hospitalized children. We also have plans to continue our efforts in the Fall by volunteering at the Carolina Tiger Rescue!

Once September kicks off, our offices will be hosting events to create greeting cards for hospitalized children and will support the Central and Eastern North Carolina Food Bank in a warehouse project packing items to help feed the hungry in our local Raliegh/Durham community. We will also host another donation drive with the Green Chair Project to donate bath and bedding items for families in need.
