Interns and University

Our university program provides real-world training and support for the next generation of leaders. Begin your career journey at a mission-critical company.

We have an important mission and have built our early career programs so that you can make an impact right away. You won’t fetch coffee here — you’ll get hands-on training and then learn by doing. One intern was drawn to Tanium because she believes in what we do here.

Everyone at Tanium has big goals, so we make sure to provide one-on-one mentorship to help you contribute in a real way to Tanium’s products, services, customers, internal programs and more. In describing her mentor, one intern said: She’s always there to back me up and also pushes me to challenge myself in the best ways.

You’ll work alongside the best and the brightest, building a network of fellow early career professionals and world-class teammates. We are passionate about what we do and how our work exemplifies our values. One Tanium intern combined her passion for engineering and women empowerment in STEM.

What our interns have to say

Don’t just take our word for it. Learn about the early career experience in Engineering, Sales, and Technical Account Management.

“From day one…you have the same respect and a lot of the same expectations as a normal entry-level developer would have. But at the same time, there’s a lot more willingness to teach and work with you.”

Orion Junkins

“What I value most about [my Tanium experience] is the collaborative culture – whether in the office or over Zoom meetings, I feel that everyone is invested in my success.”

Joseph Pelletier

“The amount of people I’ve connected with, the information that I’ve learned, and the relationships that I’ve built in just a little over five weeks has been extremely mind-blowing.”

Armireal Rodgers

When does Tanium’s summer internship program take place?

Tanium’s US internship program is a ten-week, full-time program which takes place each summer – typically from early June through early August. For international internships, please see specific job descriptions for dates and duration.

Are there specific qualifications to join Tanium’s internship program?

Our internship program is targeted towards juniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree (graduating 1-2 semesters after the start of the internship program). A high GPA, a passion for learning, and having experience in your field will help you stand out!

Please see specific internship job descriptions for detailed role requirements.

Where should recent grads and seniors apply to full-time roles at Tanium?

Tanium’s entry-level full-time positions (e.g., Associate Support, Technical Account Management, Sales Development Representative, Software Engineer I) open throughout the year.

We highly recommend that graduating seniors apply within 1-2 months of their graduation date to increase their chance of receiving an interview.

Does Tanium offer internships or co-ops during the academic year (fall or spring)?

Tanium typically does not offer academic year internships in the US. US-based internships take place during the summer. For international internships, please see specific job descriptions for dates and duration.

Is the Tanium summer internship program in-person, hybrid, or remote?

Tanium embraces a modern way of working. Team members (including interns) are based out of Tanium offices (see job posting for specific locations). Most internships follow a hybrid policy, so people get the benefits of in-person collaboration balanced with the flexibility of working remotely a few days a week.

What should I expect from a Tanium internship?

Each student is paired with a one-on-one mentor on their team and will be supported as they jump right in to doing real-world work in their desired field. Our internship program is founded with the hope that interns will convert to full-time roles upon graduation, depending on individual performance and business need.

When can I apply to a Tanium internship? Is there an application deadline?

Most applications open in early September for internships starting the following summer. There is no official application deadline, however, most internship roles are filled by the end of December. We recommend you submit your application by November. Check here for our most up-to-date postings!

Where do I apply? Where are your internships posted?

The best place to apply and browse our openings is directly on our website.

Does Tanium hire interns who require sponsorship (now or in the future) for work authorization?

In most cases, Tanium is not able to hire interns who require sponsorship (now or in the future). Please see specific job descriptions for work authorization requirements.

Are Tanium internships paid?

All internships offer a competitive hourly wage for the duration of the internship.

What benefits are offered for interns?

Interns receive hourly pay and a one-time housing stipend and are eligible for 401k matching and a monthly allowance for communications reimbursement. Also, the internship program is packed with opportunities for networking and building relationships with your peer interns and members of our team – including leadership speaker series, weekly mixers, game nights, and volunteer opportunities!
