Tanium Named 2015 “Cool Vendor” in Endpoint Computing by Gartner

Emeryville, Calif., April 28, 2015 – Tanium, the company that has redefined security and systems management, has been named one of the Cool Vendors in Endpoint Computing, 2015 by Gartner, the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company. The report highlights Tanium’s ability to provide real-time patch management, configuration management and security to organizations’ PCs and servers as part of its unique approach to endpoint security and systems management.

Each year, Gartner identifies new Cool Vendors in key technology areas and publishes a series of research reports highlighting the products and services that make these vendors noteworthy. Gartner recognizes companies in this report based on their ability to innovate with products that address old problems as well as products that address shortcomings of new technologies. The problems of patching, managing and securing PCs and servers are not new, but as endpoint security and management problems become more difficult to deal with given the volume and scale of enterprise networks, organizations need to find new ways to address these challenges. The inclusion of Tanium comes on the heels of its recent platform enhancements, record-breaking growth in 2014 and securing an additional $52 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz.

Whether organizations are looking for endpoint security or more traditional client and server management capabilities, including asset inventory, patch management or software distribution, Tanium has invented a breakthrough approach to security and systems management which enables 15-second endpoint visibility and control across the world’s largest and most complex networks. The report states, “Although most competitors make changes based on scanned, historical information, Tanium’s remediation and deployment update actions are made based on real-time status with up-to-the-second accuracy. Another unique feature of Tanium is its use of natural language queries, which also enhances the speed in which information is gathered and acted on.” With the unprecedented speed and scale of Tanium, organizations now have accurate and complete information on the state of endpoints at all times and can take corrective action, such as deploying patches, to millions of machines within seconds, to reduce both operational costs and the risk of security threats.

“We’re honored to be named a Cool Vendor by Gartner. This recognition is a testament to the need for real-time endpoint visibility and control. The IT environment and threat landscape is changing so fast that the ability to manage and secure millions of endpoints across an enterprise in a matter of seconds is necessary to be effective,” said Orion Hindawi, co-founder and CTO at Tanium. “As we continue to provide new capabilities on top of our platform, we look forward to helping our customers rethink how they solve their most important IT challenges.”
